Trees are amazing!!!

Some trees can live for 500 years or more. They do amazing things.

Soil Nutrition is planting trees for several reasons: to offset our carbon footprint, to help reverse climate change, to protect against flooding, and simply because we like them.

As part of a riparian flood defence scheme, trees can capture excess rainfall and flood waters in upland areas, and release the water more slowly back into the watercourses. This protects vulnerable downstream lowland areas from flooding risks. Soil Nutrition is providing land, trees and manpower to support a planting scheme of 6,500 trees along the flood zones for Lustrum Beck and Coatham Beck in Cleveland County.

Once matured, these trees will have captured thousands of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere. Over a shorter timescale they will provide protection against flooding for residents of Stockton & Billingham, and become a natural habitat to support wildlife, insects and birds along the river valley.

Soil Nutrition has committed to invest profits into planting more trees recognising it as another means to improve the climate.
